Eager to collaborate on productions
Lynn Carnefix
My main gig is bringing to life an author‘s text, Narrating with my voice and producing a digital audio book. In addition, I tutor students writing essays and edit written texts for authors.
Between times in the studio and at my laptop, and to fill in the seasonal changes, with organic practices, I grow various types of garlic, harvest, and braid them. For the hard neck garlic, that I can’t braid easily, I’ve crocheted garlic holders out of various materials: twisted paper, yarn, hemp yarn, twine.
These practices give me a balance between indoor endeavors— closed in the sound studio or at my computer, tutoring with a student, or editing an author’s text, or editing audiobook tracks — and outdoor work— preparing soil, planting, and tending the garden. I also braid the garlic outside on my porch workshop. It’s a nice, balanced contrast —these four production practices: tutoring writers, editing written text, narrating and producing audiobooks, and growing, harvesting and braiding garlic.
Education
My basic mode of operation is to investigate, study and learn. These tasks give me great joy!
As a lifelong learner, I’m most recently learning from my son, whom I consider my technology guru. I think he’d deny that. He simply grew up with technology, learned to word process in the second grade, and using technology is second nature to him–intuitive. I’m grateful he has the patience to show me and instruct me how to do what I need to in order to create this website. Also he demonstrates how to quickly search for, and find, the answers to the questions I ask about this process when he doesn’t remember. He’s also experienced, having created and often re-created his own website—www.MaplexMonk.com (should you want to take a look at that to see the product of his labor).
